1.  Identify, define, and give an example of the 6 criteria of newsworthiness.

Criteria 1: Unusualness
Definition: Something that is different or out of the ordinary.
Example: An airplane crashing

Criteria 2: Significance
Definition: Important events that may affect many people.
Example: Taxes, elections and wars.

Criteria 3: Timeliness
Definition: People want to hear news as it is happening not down the road.
Example: News of a flood as it's occurring.

Criteria 4: Proximity
Definition: News that is nearby to the listener.
Example: State tax laws, or a proposed regional highway.

Criteria 5: Prominence
Definition: When well known people or places are involved.
Example: A movie star being arrested.

Criteria 6: Human Interest
Definition: A story about ordinary people or animals.
Example: A minister that runs a drop-in center for troubled teenagers.

2. On page 23 it discusses the differences between print journalism and broadcast journlism.  Please describe 3 ways they are different and explain. 
1. Print journalism provides a fuller coverage of more stories.
2. Broadcast Journalism is more dramatic for the viewer due to the power of the camera and actually being able to see what's happening.
3. Broadcast Journalism from the radio is more timely,as it has up to the minute information.
3.  List all the criteria the story we watched at the beginning of class fits under and why.
Unusualness, it was an out of the ordinary story about pigs on the highways near a crash site.
4.  List all the criteria the 2nd story we watched fits under and why.
Unusualness, because it isn't very often you hear about dogs that hear and see for each other. And also Human interest because it is a heart-wrenching story.
5.  List all the criteria the 3rd story we watched fits under and why.
Timeliness, because the movie awards just happened.
Prominence, because at the movie awards there are many very famous people.
